GEEKS: Tanzania. Singida, Aqua Vitea Resort. Tuesday 30 June. Week 11, Day 80.

Kigoma – Kasulu – Uwinza – Urambo – Tabora – Nzega – Jomu – Singida.

Distance and time taken.

746km, 13hr.

Route breakdown.

• The first stretch of tar from Kigoma lasts about 110km and is great.

• Then there is intermittent dirt, detours for new road and sections of tar, about 50/50.

• The last section of 75km before Tabora is tar. When completed this road all the way to Tabora will be superb and I suspect new sections of tar are opening by the month.

Tanzania. New Dodoma Hotel, Dodoma. Sunday 21 June 2015. Week 11, Day 71.

We had a very long drive this day and cheated a little by leaving Tagalala Campsite at 5H45. We were heading for roads which were under construction, especially after Dodoma and had no recent reports to guide us. T4A was hopelessly out of date although it directed us to our destination in Dodoma unerringly.

Tanzania. Camping at Kisolanza Farm, near Iringa. Thursday 11 June 2015. Week 9 Day 61.

After sleeping on it, a solution to my broken leaf spring blade occurred to me. Surely just that blade could be replaced or a substitute of some type manufactured? The original suggestion of the garage owner was to just replace it with a standard Toyota leaf spring but this really had no appeal, a heavy duty mod on one side and a normal one on the other really did not mske sense and nor did replacing both with standard Toyota leaf springs. I did not fancy tackling relatively isolated Ruaha with a weakened suspension.
